How to Prevent Hair Damage

A lot of  clients complain about hair damage and hair loss or that their hair feels extremely brittle. I wanted to share some tips for everyone out there who faces the same problem(s) – these are some small steps that you can take to have your hair feel healthier.

1. KNOW YOUR HAIR

Always make sure to buy the right hair products – that suit your hair type. It’s a huge and highly competitive market out there and you’ll find all sorts of products to do all sorts of things. You should make sure you are buying the right hair products for your specific hair type to get the best possible results. So, if your hair is thick, thin, fine, chemically treated, curly, wavy, straight, etc. – buy accordingly!

2. USE HEAT PROTECTANTS

Frequently using heat-based styling tools can damage your hair in a variety of ways such as causing loss of moisture and making your hair feel brittle. I cannot stress how important it is for you to use a heat protection spray before blow-drying or flat-ironing your hair. Heat protection spray creates a layer over your hair so the styling tools do not do as much damage to your hair. I swear by the label.m Heat Protection Spray.

3. Do not use a towel to dry your hair
I can understand that having been conditioned to reach for the towel to dry your hair after a shower, this one is a tad tough to make into a habit. Hair is most delicate when wet and most towels are far too coarse. Although there may be some special towels you can purchase, I suggest that you blot your hair with a soft T-shirt (it is less abrasive) instead of rubbing it dry with a towel. If you do want to use a towel, try not rubbing your hair with the towel.  Also, whenever you can, air dry your hair rather than using a blowdrier.

4. GIVE YOUR HAIR SPACE TO BREATHE

You might not know this but wearing your hair tight daily results in hair damage. Go all out on occasion and get the trendiest hairdos – but for the most part and on a daily basis, go easy on your hair and opt for loose updos instead of high ponytails or slicked back hair with buns. The best option is to let your hair down – and even if you can’t do that during the day, let it loose at night while sleeping.

5. KNOW YOUR STYLING TOOLS

While straightening or blow-drying your hair, make sure you’re using a tool that has a heat setting that you can control and use it accordingly.  Another way to fast-track damage is tugging on your hair while styling, which inevitably causes hair fall. Also, try to limit the amount of times you pass the flat iron through your hair to minimize damage.

6. GO TO THE SALON

Your hair can end up looking neglected and worse still, if you attempt to carry out a treatment yourself rather than getting it done by an expert, you can damage your hair quite badly! Also, especially where hair colour is concerned: most store-bought colors may be cheaper, but they can cause extensive hair damage. These are one of those things that should be best left for professional to do. I’m not saying this because I own three salons, but you’ll be doing yourself a favour by going to a salon! Would you rather self-medicate? Or would you rather go to a doctor to seek treatment for an ailment, or to get good advice?

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (8 MARCH)

International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is marked onMarch 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day andValentine's Day.
