Have you ever seen a travel review that made you want to close
your eyes, click your heels and walk through a picture that very
instant? Ever since I discovered the delicious crowd-sourced travel
review site called Triptease I have fallen in wander-love. Obviously I’m
extra thrilled that this desi girl traveler is also one of their
official bloggers :) Now sit back and prepare to go on the journey of
your life with the site’s greatest champion – Chris Warren-Gash as your guide.

“Photos are a powerful shorthand for our experience of the world.”
One of the best parts of my job is reading mouthwatering travel reviews all day long
Some are of places I remember fondly, others of spots which have long
been on my bucket list, and some of destinations which weren’t
previously on my radar. Either way, the result is a permanent state of
wanderlust.
In this post I’ll share the top ten with you. Between you and me, I
haven’t travelled to all four corners of the globe yet (just the three) –
so I’m enlisting the help of some friends.
Triptease’s countdown of the top 10 must-visit places in the world (5 cities, 5 natural wonders):
1. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Rio
Under the world’s microscope on account of hosting the upcoming
football World Cup and Olympics in short succession. Its waist-swinging
samba sexiness remains, but Rio has a brain for business and is fast
commercialising. Get in while its still hot.
2. New York City, USA
New York
The ultimate metropolis. A rundown of the world’s greatest cities is
naked without a nod in the direction of the Big Apple. A city
unashamedly running at a cardiac arrest pace, it boasts a vibrancy and
energy simply unparalleled anywhere else. Neck achingly tall, NYC’s
beauty is in its diversity – of people, building size, varying feel from
‘hood to ‘hood.
3. Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town
A city dripping with natural beauty. Many have lost their hearts in progressive Cape Town (and who can blame them?)
4. London, UK
London
The birthing place of Triptease, I couldn’t help but throw our
hometown into the mix. Samuel Johnson (a very proud Londoner) once said
“when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life”. A touch
hyperbolical, perhaps, but Sam had a point – it’s a city that keeps
giving. A sense of history and heritage permeates the London air,
something which is difficult to find anywhere else
5. Hong Kong, HK
Hong Kong
An embarrassment of riches in terms of its night views, Hong Kong is
one of those cities that gets a new lease of life after sunset. Swarming
with people, a contagious buzz felt almost nowhere else breeds in
downtown HK.
6. Patagonia, Chile
Patagonia
The inspiration of many a collection of poetry, Patagonia boasts
heart stopping beauty and a serene charm. It’s pièce de résistance is
Torres Del Paine national park – named for its tall, thin, tower shaped
rocks. The dramatic Glacier Grey is its best feature.
7. Maldives
Maldives
As close to paradise as anybody will likely experience,. The
Maldives’ colour palette plays to a different set of rules – beaches are
searing white, waters deep turquoise. With luxury hotels as common as
shells on the beautiful beaches, there’s no excuse not to treat yourself
to your own slice of paradise.
8. Masai Mara, Kenya
Masai Mara
Going on safari is bucketlist bait. One of the best ways to escape
standard daily life, there’s a seductive drama to living amongst the
wildlife. Africa is abound with stunning safari, but rough luxury is at
its very best in the Masai
9. Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Great Barrier Reef
There’s another world under water. The Great Barrier Reef is the
world’s best known scuba haven, but unlike so many others it delivers on
each gram of hype it receives.
10. Taj Mahal, India
Taj Mahal
A roundup of the world’s top ten unmissable destinations wouldn’t be
complete without a considerable shoutout to the Taj Mahal. Its aura is
powerful, and ranks as one of those few places which holds down a top
ten spot on almost all bucket lists
