Porsche launches Cayman S sports car
- Volkswagen Group owned German sports car maker Porsche has launched a completely revamped Cayman S on Tuesday at Rs 93.99 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi.
"Along with the Boxster, the (Cayman S) model won the coveted
2013 World Performance Car award this March. It is built for driving
through bends like few other sports cars and offers an outstanding sports car experience combined with the practicality of everyday driving."
The two-seater sports car is lower and longer, lighter and faster, more powerful than its predecessors claims the company.
Available with a 3.4-litre flat-six cylinder engine developing 325 hp, the Cayman S is rear-wheel drive and has seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission as an option. When equipped with PDK, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (4.7 seconds with optional Sport Chrono package) and attains a top speed of 281 km/h.
The new Cayman is - after the 911 Carrera and Boxster - the third sports car model from Porsche to feature innovative lightweight body design with mixed aluminum-steel construction. It is up to 30 kg lighter, depending on the specific model and equipment, and consumes up to 15% less fuel per 100 km than the predecessor - despite higher engine and driving performance.
The new Cayman S has a Sport button as standard that lets the driver choose between sport-oriented tuning and comfortable tuning that is optimised for fuel efficiency.
The interior of the new Cayman continues along the lines of current Porsche sports car design and adds value to the sport coupe.
For the first time, a high-end Burmester® sound system can be optionally ordered which is individually tuned for the sport coupe. A host of other new and optional features includes bi-colour leather packages that create an especially exclusive ambience inside.
