“I’D RATHER BE SAD,” SAID NO ONE EVER.
A friend of mine once went to a conference and came back with a quote from a keynote speaker that has stuck with us since: “Have you ever met a person and been like, ‘man, I love that person, he/she is so negative!’?” No, it’s the positive people you remember.
#1 SAY THANK YOU
Have you ever made someone else smile without feeling a little bit happy yourself? But what if you went on to ends for them and they didn’t even acknowledge it? You wouldn’t feel that happy about it, I’m sure. So make sure you do that, too. Be grateful and smile. You’re bound to feel better, too!
#2 WORKOUT
When you get upset or angry, your body releases a lot of adrenaline and to put it to good use, get on your treadmill or walk around and try to break into a sweat to turn them into happy feelings. Trust me, you’re one workout away from a good mood!
#3 EAT HEALTHY
Food packed with trans fats mostly lead to feelings of aggression and agitation. However, good foods filled with omega 3 can help you feel calm and these include fish, walnuts and chia seeds. You can even take supplements to make sure you get enough in a day!
#4 STRESS LESS
We all have those days when 24 hours don’t seem like enough hours in a day. But do you think that worrying about it is going to make it longer? Nah, in fact time spent worrying is time wasted. Just take a deep breath and plan it out instead of giving yourself grey hair.
#5 THINK BEYOND WORK
Do you work around the clock? Change your attitude towards it because if you’re spending most of the time you’re awake working and you’re not liking it, you’re going to be miserable. Ask yourself why you’re doing what you do and focus on the results and rewards of it. For instance, if you’re working just because you want to save up for further education, keep that as your goal and focus on how your hard work will help you land that dream job, not the other way around.
#6 SPEND QUALITY TIME
Call your friend, one that seems to get you all the time and this could be your mother, your sister, anyone – that person you can call without really having a purpose besides just wanting to talk. Find out what’s going on in their life and catch up with them. Today’s life is so fast paced that it’s easy to get left behind on the lives of people important to us.
#7 SMILE
Did you know that when you smile (even if you’re unhappy), your body thinks you’re really happy and releases the happy hormones? So you automatically become happy! And do you know what’s even better? Smiles are contagious and they’re sunnah!Too many benefits of smiling
