Etiquette Superstar!

Teach your Child to be an Etiquette Superstar!

Good manners should be practiced year-round.
Schools out and we are in the carefree days of summer  Having good manners should be practiced year round.  Teach your child to become a polite and respectful etiquette superstar.
Children love knocking on doors and ringing doorbells -- often too many times. When the doors are finally opened, kids usually barge right in without saying "Hi" or being asked to enter. It may be okay to go into a close relative's house without waiting, but it would not be okay at someone else's house.
Practice how to address adults by their proper titles (Mr., Mrs., or Dr., and last names) with your child through role-playing. Pretend to be different people and have your child respond to an introduction with correct titles and pleasantries. The next time you're in a social setting, your child should be comfortable greeting an adult.
Some kids get very comfortable at a friend's or relative's house, and immediately run up to a friend's room, the backyard, or another part of the house without permission first. Even if it's just at Grandma's house, your child should wait for directions on where to go and avoid running or jumping around indoors.
Children love to explore other people's refrigerators, and they cannot resist asking a hostess if she baked cookies like last time. If refreshments haven't been offered right away, remind your child that it's polite to wait instead of asking right away for something.
At the dinner table, ask the kids to stay seated through the whole meal, unless they have asked permission to leave. If they have a hard time staying seated, set a timer and increase the time by three minutes every day. You can reinforce good behavior with a reward. It may feel comfortable and natural to rest your elbows on the table during a meal, but it's considered improper etiquette. This is a tough one even for adults, but try leading by example. Explain to your kids that hands belong on the utensils, in the lap, or at the side of the body when not eating.
Have confidence that all of your reminders will pay off and you will have well mannered children.
Please share your tips on teaching your children good manners

Children are natural mimics! MUST read it

While reading some parenting articles, I read this one article about manners  that I knew I had to blog about it. Kids are easy enough to teach manners, it's actually following it up that sucks. Because when they see somebody else doing something really gross but funny they tend to do the same thing...that is when it's crucial to say it is wrong. If they get away with it even just once then they will do it again.

Parents tend to let them get away with it, especially when they do it in public and some people find it hilarious. Make no mistake about it, there are people who find it really funny when a kid burps so loud, well, this still falls under manners right?

You just don't say 'please', 'thank you', 'excuse me' to your parents or the elderly but to everybody, even those younger than you. And when I say everybody it means everybody, no matter what the station is life is....respect does not mean only for the rich and the executives. Even those in cheap clothes like the jeepney drivers, Metro Aides, your household help and everybody you meet.

It's why I always say thank you when paying my fare and one thing I have been wanting to see in other people. I mean it is not my obligation to get your fare and pass it towards the driver so at least I deserve a thank you.. don't you think? And even the driver in cheap work clothes deserves a thank you.

Manner #1
When asking for something, say "Please."

Manner #2
When receiving something, say "Thank you."

Manner #3
Do not interrupt grown-ups who are speaking with each other unless there is an emergency. They will notice you and respond when they are finished talking.

Manner #4
If you do need to get somebody's attention right away, the phrase "excuse me" is the most polite way for you to enter the conversation.

Manner #5
When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. It can save you from many hours of grief later.

Manner #6
The world is not interested in what you dislike. Keep negative opinions to yourself, or between you and your friends, and out of earshot of adults.

Manner #7
Do not comment on other people's physical characteristics unless, of course, it's to compliment them, which is always welcome.

Manner #8
When people ask you how you are, tell them and then ask them how they are.

Manner #9
When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents for having you over and for the good time you had.

Manner #10
Knock on closed doors -- and wait to see if there's a response -- before entering.

Manner #11
When you make a phone call, introduce yourself first and then ask if you can speak with the person you are calling.

Manner #12
Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive. In the age of e-mail, a handwritten thank-you note can have a powerful effect.

Manner #13
Never use foul language in front of adults. Grown-ups already know all those words, and they find them boring and unpleasant.

Manner #14
Don't call people mean names.

Manner #15
Do not make fun of anyone for any reason. Teasing shows others you are weak, and ganging up on someone else is cruel.

Manner #16
Even if a play or an assembly is boring, sit through it quietly and pretend that you are interested. The performers and presenters are doing their best.

Manner #17
If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me."

Manner #18
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and don't pick your nose in public.

Manner #19
As you walk through a door, look to see if you can hold it open for someone else.

Manner #20
If you come across a parent, a teacher, or a neighbor working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so -- you may learn something new.

Manner #21
When an adult asks you for a favor, do it without grumbling and with a smile.

Manner #22
When someone helps you, say "thank you." That person will likely want to help you again. This is especially true with teachers!

Manner #23
Use eating utensils properly. If you are unsure how to do so, ask your parents to teach you or watch what adults do.

Manner #24
Keep a napkin on your lap; use it to wipe your mouth when necessary.

Manner #25

Don't reach for things at the table; ask to have them passed.

Nose rings over studs

Look back in style! Sonam Kapoor poses for the photogs. (Reuters Photo)
Nose accessories are in vogue like never before, all thanks to our Bollywood divas! While it’s not a new style, the trend has grown stronger after Sonam Kapoor and Vidya Balan popularised the traditional ‘nathani’ worldwide at the Cannes Film Festival, this year.
Many recent as well
as upcoming films, too, have the heroines flaunting the look. While Sonam in Raanjhanaa and Deepika Padukone in Chennai Express, wear nose rings, Sonakshi Sinha in Lootera as well as Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Dobara, and Shruti Haasan in Ramaiya Vastavaiya, will be seen sporting nose pins. We talk to jewellery designers and find out what’s more chic — a ring or a pin.
“I prefer nose rings to studs as they give a more feminine look, while studs make one look a bit older. Sonam totally pulls it off but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jodhaa Akbar carried it off the best,” says Farah Khan Ali.
Alpana Gujral, too, gives her vote to nose rings. “It gives softness to the face but one should have a nice nose for it to look good. Deepika and Sonam look great in nose rings,” she says.

Eyes are the most beautiful and attractive feature of our face, which can be enhanced by applying eye makeup tips. Though, you can find a lot of eye makeup tips that will surely make your eyes look glamorous. However, when it comes to beautify the eyes, the eye glass wearers face a lot of trouble.
Girls who wear spectacles find it really problematic to enhance their eyes, as their frames hide their eyes which cannot be enhanced by applying ordinary eye makeup tips. If you wear glasses and still want to make your peepers look glamorous you should try eye glass wearers makeup tips. With the following eye glass wearers makeup tips, you will able to give your eyes an attractive appearance even under the glasses.
glass

Line your eyes

When it comes to eye glass wearers makeup tips, the best one is to use a eye liner. Spectacles usually blur the shape of your eyes. One of the best eye makeup tips is to define your eyes by rimming them up in black or brown eye liner. No matter what your eye shape ad eye color is, black eyeliner goes well with all eye makeup tips. Topping up the upper lash line with black liner is the glamorous eye glass wearers makeup tips. To brighten up your eyes under the frames, the great eye glass wearers makeup tips is to apply a white eye liner on the lower inner waterline of your eyes.

Shape up your brows

One of the best eye glass wearers makeup tips is to groom the brows. Spectacles draw extra attention to your brows, it is therefore important for you to follow the eye makeup tips that make your eyes appear attractive. Always make sure that your eye brows are well shaped and combed upward. If there are gaps in your eye brows, filling up them with black pencil is surely one of the best eye glass wearers makeup tips.

Match it up

If you want to give a stylish look to your eyes under specs, you should apply those eye makeup tips that suits best according to your glasses style. Try to match up the eye makeup tips with the style and shape of your glasses. If your glasses are rimless, you can accentuate them with the smoky eye makeup tips. You can enhance the beauty of your eyes by applying eye makeup tips using soft gray brown.
On the other hand, if you wear cat-eye spectacles, you can apply eye makeup tips by lining the top lashes and subtly smudge up the outer corner. By using such eye makeup tips and mimicking your frame design, you can make your eyes look bigger and more visible.

Who Wore It Better? Kareena Kapoor or Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian and Kareena Kapoor
Kim Kardashian and Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor stepped out  for the launch of her book The Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva in a Tom Ford sheath dress. Reality TV queen Kim Kardashian was also spotted wearing the same outfit way back in September at Fashion’s Night Out. While Kapoor sported a bold lip, Kim opted for a smokey eye. Both pull this look off with aplomb – but I’m leaning towards Kareena for adding a nice pop of colour.  Who gets your vote?

English Translation

The heart is deeper than the ocean
Who can fathom its mysteries?
Storms come and go on its surface, While fleets sail through it,
Their crews wielding their oars.
Inside the heart are the fourteen realms,
Stretched like canvas tents.
Only the on who knows These deeper secrets of the heart
Can know the Creator, O Bahu!..

Some Beautiful Lines..

n you face adversity, you can be led to ask many questions. Some serve a useful purpose; others do not. To ask, Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this, now? What have I done to cause this? will lead you into blind alleys. It really does no good to ask questions that reflect opposition to the will of Allah. Rather ask, What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial? Willing sacrifice of deeply held personal desires in favor of the will of Allah is very hard to do. Yet, when you pray with real conviction, “Please let me know Thy will” and “May Thy will be done,” you are in the strongest position to receive the maximum help

What I Think TOday..

1)....The universe is made up of experiences that are designed to burn out your attachment, your clinging, to pleasure, to pain, to fear to all of it. And as long as there is a place where your vulnerable, the universe will find a way to confront you with it.

.
2)....We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.

3)... It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what’s changed is you.

4)...Don’t follow past thoughts, don’t anticipate the future, and don’t follow illusory thoughts that arise in the present, but turning within, observe your own true nature and maintain awareness of your natural mind, just as it is.

5)... If you are troubled by external circumstances, it is not the circumstances that trouble you, but your own perception of them—and they are in your power to change at any time.

6).. We in the richest societies have too many calories even as we starve for beautiful, fresh food; we have overly large houses but lack spaces that truly embody our individuality and connectedness; media surround us everywhere while we starve for authentic communication. We are offered entertainment every second of the day but lack the chance to play. In the ubiquitous world of money, we hunger for all that is intimate, personal and unique.

7).. Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.

Quick Fixes

Late nights, allergies, stress...whatever the case may be we have all fallen victim to puffy, tired eyes. Here are three quick, all natural fixes for combating those pesky eye pillows

Choose The Right

Right diet for your blood group

Guess what’s common between Akshay Kumar, Demi Moore, Liz Hurley, Sanjay Dutt, Miranda Kerr and Courteney Cox? Yeah, sure, they all are great actors but did you know that they all happen to follow the same diet — the blood group diet. This diet is based on the fact that certain foods are more

According to Dr Peter D’Adamo, author of the famed book, Eat Right For Your Blood Type, each blood group is a powerful genetic fingerprint that identifies to your DNA. So eating according to your blood type can help you achieve the ideal weight and also slow down your ageing process. Dietician Deepika Aggarwal Katyal of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals says that there are differences in our body chemistries based on blood type that determine what foods we digest optimally. Blood“Knowing your blood type, and eating and exercising according to it is the key to avoiding health and weight problems. For instance, type O- the oldest blood type, genetically speaking, indicates a need to eat meat every day because the earliest human populations were hunter-gatherers. Similarly, people with type A are descendants from agrarian cultures and hence vegetarian diet suits them best,” explains Katyal.
OPeople with this blood type are usually focused, energetic and organised. If your blood group is O, then your diet should comprise lean meat, chicken or fish (like bass, cod, halibut, sole and rainbow trout), seafood and salt (in moderation), which lowers the levels of iodine, giving you optimal thyroid function. Avoid too much of dairy products such as milk, butter or cheese, and even carbs including wheat and wheat-based food products. Engage in regular jogging, cycling and swimming.
A
People with this blood group are highly creative, sensitive and excellent problem-solvers. If you are a hardcore non-vegetarian though, there’s some bad news in here because the right diet for people with A blood type is vegetarian. Your diet must include nuts, seeds, cereals, pasta, fruit and vegetables. Cut down your sugar, caffeine and alcohol intake. Stress is a common problem with people of this blood group, so practice yoga, Tai Chi or simply go for long walks.
B
People with this blood type are usually relaxed and unconventional, and have unique individualistic traits. You need to eat a moderate diet — like a bit of everything. Fill up on leafy greens and vegetables, and also fruits including bananas, grapes, plums and pineapple. Meat, fish, coffee, vegetables and wheat-free grains are perfect for your diet. Go easy on nuts, corns, grains and processed food. Team sports or activities like basketball, dance classes are good for you.
AB
Equipped with great leadership qualities, and a special interest for art are the usual character traits of people with this blood type. Go for a vegetable and fruit-rich diet with a variety of carbohydrates. Snack on fresh fruits including cherries, grapes, watermelon and figs. You can have non-vegetarian food too but more of seafood, salmon and tuna. Avoid all smoked and cured meats as well as chicken, beef, pork or shellfish. Steer clear of all caffeine and alcohol. Light jogging, yoga and calming exercises are good for you.

Fashion makeover:

The notion of being fashionably smart is getting a makeover as Internet-linked computers get woven into formerly brainless attire such as glasses, bracelets and shoes.

A wearable computing trend is at the heart of the "quantified self" movement in which people track anything from
how many calories they burn to how well they sleep or their moods at any given moment.
"We are heading for the wearable computing era," Gartner analyst Van Baker told AFP. "People are going to be walking around with personal area networks on their bodies and have multiple devices that talk to each other and the Web.
Understandably, the trend has found traction in fitness with devices such as the Jawbone UP, Nike's FuelBand, and Fitbit keeping tabs on whether people are leading active, healthy lifestyles.
The devices use sensors to detect micro movements and then feed information to smartphones or tablets, where applications tap into processing power to analyze data and provide feedback to users.
San Francisco-based Jawbone jumped into wearable computing years ago, building electronic brains into stylish wireless earpieces and speakers for smartphones.
