Summer care for ur hair

Summer care for your tresses

Summer means more humid air, which can wreak havoc to your defenceless, frizz-prone strands. Don’t let summer get the best of your hair. Tame the frizz monster and enjoy and maintain lustrous hair all through summer. Here are some basic tips to get you started along the right track.
Scrub well: It is not just your face that gets dirty at the end of the day. Your hair too is just as dirty. Also, your hair follicles produce oil (sebum) as your scalp perspires. So to maintain hair hygiene, you must shampoo minimum 3-4 times a week, if not everyday.
Deep conditioning: Deep-condition your hair at least once a week in summer to replenish its moisture because hair tends to become dry, dull or brittle if it is exposed to frequent cycles of soaking and drying, such as if you sweat a lot or go swimming.
Leave-in serums: If you are a water baby, it may be wise to spritz on some leave-in conditioner before hitting the beach or diving into the pool. Slick your dry hair back with a conditioner as this will act as a barrier to sunlight, salt water, and chlorine, and save you from the damage.
Eat right: Studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids—found in foods such as salmon, spinach, flaxseeds and omega-3-rich eggs—can keep your hair strong and looking healthy and shiny. Also, it is a must to drink adequate amount of water.
Get natural highlight: If you want to have natural-looking highlights, skip certain strands and just comb a little lemon juice through your hair before stepping out into the sun. The sun will lighten those strands and you will have a subtle sun-streaked look without having to budget for the salon.
Nix the hair spray: The rising temperatures dry your hair anyway. Why add to the damage with hair sprays that are extremely drying. Common ingredients like alcohol and ethanol can be very damaging to your hair because they dry it out, causing it to break easily.
